Term 1 2024
Welcome to the first newsletter of this academic year and what a start to the year it has been. Students have started the school year brilliantly, with a significant improvement in the focus in lessons. This has led to over 1500 positive postcards being sent home. As the academic year progresses, we will be relaunching our rewards system and looking forward to seeing whether Parks, Attenborough or Jenner house will raise the winners cup at the end of the year.
A particular mention needs to go to our Year 11 students who have had a brilliant return to school for their final year. The engagement and determination they are showing in lessons has been phenomenal, allowing a significant amount of curriculum content to be covered. This, alongside the Year 11 offer, means that they are really getting prepared for their upcoming mock exams (wc 11th November, wc 18th November & wc 25th November).
This half term saw lots of trips, visits and guest speakers including visits to the Cheltenham Literature Festival, theatre experiences and the Year 11 Geography field trip. Lots more opportunities for enrichment are scheduled for next half term. There have also been a variety of sports fixtures taking place, of which Barnwood Park has been successful in the majority of matches.
During the next half term, we will be launching our Food Bank Appeal. This will see us partner with various local charities to raise awareness, fundraise and collect donations. We are looking forward to supporting this appeal and seeing how we can help those who need some additional support, especially during the Winter.
I wish all our students, staff and their families a safe half term. We have an Inset day on Monday 4th November, but we look forward to welcoming all year groups back on Tuesday 5th November.
