This term, our students have achieved many dance achievements both in and out of school.
On July 1st, our dance competition team competed at the national finals of the Great Big Dance Off with their two regional-winning choreographies. They dedicated themselves to enhancing their performances since the last regional competition and were outstanding on stage, earning commendations for their entertaining performance, maturity, and confidence.
On July 7th, the dance company performed at Ribston Hall School. Their performance received high praise, and they were even encouraged to join a professional dance company due to their impressive skills.
Additionally, on July 7th, our students participated in a performing arts taster session from My Stage School at our school. Katie Harber received a scholarship for her exceptional performance over the weekend. Congratulations to Katie and all the other students involved; we look forward to your future achievements.
Furthermore, Effie Wood, Millie Worrall, and Elsa Bailey competed in a street dance competition, securing third place with their group piece and bringing home a trophy. They also revealed their first-place victory in a previous competition. Daisy Anderson recently competed in the group under-14 cabaret section at the Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts, winning gold against all dance schools in Gloucestershire.
This term, we have launched a boys' dance company, which will resume in September. The boys are preparing a dance to be performed at Cheltenham Town Hall and our dance show 'Centrestage'. Any other students are welcome to join in the new academic year. It will be a fantastic opportunity to enjoy choreographing in groups and enjoy the performance opportunities available.
On Wednesday the 17th, the students presented their class work and original choreographies as part of a summer showcase. This event featured BTEC mock assessment pieces, as well as student-created solos, duets, and ensemble pieces in various styles. The students were eager to share their ideas with parents and demonstrate the progress they have made this year.
