The world is run by those who turn up…
At Barnwood Park we aim to fully develop each student both academically and personally. Punctuality is important and sends a message about who you are.
So far this year we have been working hard to reduce the number of lates to school. Thank you to the students for their hard work and the support they receive at home in getting them to school.
Please ensure your child is at school by 8.30am to allow them to start promptly at 8:40am. This is to ensure they don't miss out on key learning and start their school day unsettled.
We understand that school mornings can be hectic, but if your child is 5 minutes late every day, they will miss the equivalent of three days of learning each year. If your child is 15 minutes late every day, they will miss is 2 weeks of learning each year. See the below:

Furthermore:
They miss out on school notices that are given in form time each morning.
They miss out on essential instructions given at the beginning of lessons.
Students might feel awkward and embarrassed going into the classroom when everyone else is already settled.
When one person arrives late everyone loses out – the class is disrupted and the teacher must take time away from the other students, to explain what is going on in the lesson.
Number of lates over this term:
Next academic year we will be focusing on rewarding attendance, monitoring those students who are persistently late to school and lessons to reduce the barriers to their learning. We appreciate your support in getting your child to school on time everyday!
